The 8 Directions of your Compass to Freedom

When people hear the word "freedom," most of them picture one thing: Money.

Enough of it to stop worrying, to travel, to walk away from a job they hate. Financial freedom matters but in over 40 years of working with people's bodies, minds, and energy, I've come to see that money is just one room in a much bigger house.

Freedom isn't one thing. It's a whole architecture and most of us are only free in one or two rooms while the rest of the house sits locked, sometimes without us even realizing a door is there.

As a freedom hacker, my work is to help people find every locked door in that house and open it. Here are the eight types of freedom I work with and why true freedom means addressing all of them, not just the one that's loudest.

1. Mental Freedom

This is freedom from the thoughts that run on autopilot, the inner critic, the constant comparison, the mental loops that were never yours to begin with. Mental freedom isn't about "positive thinking" It's about noticing which thoughts are actually you, and which are inherited programming you've been running since childhood without ever questioning it.

What it looks like when it's missing: Overthinking, decision paralysis, a harsh inner critic voice that never lets up, self sabotage.

2. Physical Freedom

Freedom in the body from chronic pain, tension held in the tissue, illness, or simply disconnection from your own physical experience. As a Doctor of Chiropractic, this is where my work began, and it taught me something I now consider foundational: the body keeps score of everything the mind won't look at. Physical freedom means your body is no longer carrying a story it never got to finish telling.

What it looks like when it's missing: Unexplained pain, fatigue, illness that doesn't respond to treatment, feeling like a stranger in your own skin, body dysmorphia.

3. Emotional Freedom

This is the ability to feel the full range of your emotions: grief, anger, joy, desire, without being ruled by them or having to suppress them to stay safe. Most of us were taught very early which emotions were "too much" Emotional freedom means unlearning that so feeling deeply no longer feels dangerous.

What it looks like when it's missing: Numbness, emotional volatility, difficulty naming what you feel, using busyness to avoid feeling at all.

4. Energetic Freedom

Beyond thought and feeling there's the energetic layer, the subtle exchange that happens between you and everyone and everything around you. Energetic freedom means you're no longer unconsciously absorbing other people's moods, carrying weight that isn't yours or leaking your own energy into situations and relationships that drain you.

What it looks like when it's missing: Chronic exhaustion with no physical cause, feeling responsible for everyone else's emotions, losing yourself in relationships, burnout.

5. Spiritual Freedom

This is connection to something beyond the day-to-day self however you define that without it being filtered through guilt, fear, or someone else's doctrine. Spiritual freedom means your relationship to meaning and the sacred is genuinely your own, built from direct experience rather than inherited obligation.

What it looks like when it's missing: A vague sense of disconnection or emptiness, spiritual practices that feel like performance rather than nourishment, searching without landing.

6. Sexual Freedom

This is a full embodied relationship with your own sexuality and desire free of shame, suppressed trauma or the roles you were taught to perform. Sexual freedom is deeply tied to physical and emotional freedom and it's one of the areas most people never think to examine even as it quietly shapes their relationships and self-worth.

What it looks like when it's missing: Disconnection from your own body and desire, shame around pleasure, patterns of people-pleasing or self-abandonment in intimate relationships.

7. Ancestral Freedom

You didn't invent every pattern you're living. Some of what shows up as "your" anxiety, "your" scarcity, "your" relationship struggles was handed down as a survival strategy your grandmother needed, that your body is still running decades later in a context where it no longer serves you. Ancestral freedom is recognizing what's actually yours to carry and consciously laying the rest down.

What it looks like when it's missing: Repeating family patterns you swore you'd avoid, a sense of history that's heavier than your own lived experience.

8. Karmic Freedom

This is the freedom I work with most directly in my Timeline Transmission sessions: unresolved Karmic load carried across timelines, past, parallel, or even future that quietly shape present-day choices, relationships and blocks. Karmic freedom means clearing what's unresolved at the root rather than managing its symptoms for the rest of your life.

What it looks like when it's missing: Recurring life themes that never seem to fully resolve no matter what you change on the surface, a sense that something deeper is running the show.
